CASH PAYMENT POLICY EFFECTIVE 21 OCTOBER 2026

Due to the passage of the Common Cents Act in 2025 by Congress, the penny is no longer minted.  In 2026, Colorado enacted rules and regulations for cash transaction rounding for pennies.

In conformity with these laws and rules, Valente’s will now begin cash rounding for cash payments, which rounds to the nearest nickel.  The rounding rules are as follows:

  1. 0.01 and 0.02 round down to 0.00
  2. 0.03 and 0.04 round up to 0.05
  3. 0.06 and 0.07 round down to 0.05
  4. 0.08 and 0.09 round up to 0.10

Cash rounding applies ONLY to cash payments when change is given.

Cash rounding adjusts the total amount due to guest and is applied AFTER taxes and discounts.

If you pay with exact change, you will see no change and your total will stay as-is.

On your guest-facing screen, you will see a disclaimer stating: “If you pay with cash, your total may be rounded per this location’s policy”

Your receipt will say at the bottom, “if you pay by cash, your total may be rounded per this location’s payment policy.”

Thank you for your understanding during this transition.
